Compound Bows

If you want to get into bow hunting, then you are probably spending a lot of time looking at all of the different compound bows for sale. It can be rather difficult shopping for a new compound bow, because there are so many brands and models of bows available. Probably the best piece of advice is to go with a top quality brand bows such as those that are offered on this site. We have listings for several different models of bows so that you can be sure to get the best compound bow for your budget.

The majority of hunters out there use compound bows. That’s mainly, because they are some of the most powerful styles of bow that you can handle while out in the field. Compound bows use pulleys or cam system to pull tension on the bow limbs. This allows for potential energy to be stored in the bow limbs when you pull or draw on the bow string. When you release the bow string and fire the arrow, all of that potential energy is transferred to the arrow for an extremely powerful shot. There are a variety of cam and pulley technologies offered in compound bow hunting technology. Typically, you will find compound bows that have one or two cams.

Some of the higher end compound bow manufacturers such as Hoyt and Mathews bows have single cam systems that allow you to harness the same power as you would find in a dual cam system. The advantage of a single cam is that the overall weight of the bow is much less. This makes the bow easier to handle, hold, and aim as you draw the arrow. Also, there is less complexity in the bow so that the tension release of the arrow is very uniform over the bow. This gives you a lot of uniformity and balance with the compound bow.

A lot of bow hunting manufacturers are now using composite materials such as carbon in their compound bow frames. This allows the bow to be stiffer and have more tension pulled on the bow limbs. This translates into a more powerful hunting bow for your hunting needs. A nice caveat to the composite materials is that it makes the compound bow much lighter. This is especially helpful, if you want to trek over miles of backcountry.

These high end compound bows can be really expensive; however, they are worth every penny that you spend on them. This is especially true, if you like to hunt large game. Keep in mind that you want a really powerful bow to take down large game. This is just a safety factor for you as well as humane way to make your kill. If you don’t have the money to buy a brand new compound bow, then you should most definitely consider some of the used compound bows that are currently available. You just might find that you can get a great deal on a used compound bow.
